So who would studying self-defense benefit?
Anyone who wants to gain confidence in their ability to handle situations as they arise, through skills gained in training with dedicated classes existing to fulfill the requirements and needs of individual groups.

Body awareness comes with training the body through movement and learning to understand what your abilities are while improving capacity
Spatial awareness is learned in training when multiple groups are training in close proximity, and you need to notice how close you may be to your training partner or others to be able to perform techniques safely and properly
And finally situational awareness, if you aren’t aware of what’ going on around you, you cannot take preventative measures to ensure your safety, however, during training you learn to both be aware of coaches instructions, as you focus on your own techniques
What’s great about knowing these things? Start with preventative measures before you escalate to defense techniques and half the fight will already be won.
Then comes more specific training, learning techniques and different styles until movements and awareness become automatic, which is the difference between freezing in a situation that calls for self-defense or being in calm and in control.
